Discussion

In order to solve problems and get inspired by the other community members, the discussion is very important for everyone. A flourishing community will encourage your own ideas and enhance your thoughts!

Founded on your activity on the platform you gain a certain kind of value, which is called your “Activity-Index”. Besides the submission of ideas, your social activity is respected, too! That means, leaving messages to other participants, voting for ideas and evaluating them lets you gather points in your Activity-Index. After the contest phase, the three most active community members will be rewarded with great prizes!

Evaluation

The evaluation process consists of 2 steps:

  1. Community Evaluation

Participants of the contest can evaluate challenges and ideas of other contestants in a community vote by clicking a “thumbs-up” or “thumbs-down” button on two categories.

    Evaluation of challenges

    1. I also have this problem
    2. I would like to see a solution to this problem

    Evaluation of ideas

    1. I like this idea
    2. I would use this idea

The rating on both categories is displayed within idea pool by showing the percentage of positive votes. This percentage is also displayed in the preview of ideas and challenges by "Popularity" where both ratings are combined.

In contrast to the other functions of the platform, the community evaluation tool is only activated for each member with the confirmation of the user’s email in order to avoid fraud with multiple accounts.

  2. Jury Evaluation

The jury determines the final winners and is urged to evaluate the creativity and quality of the idea with respect to the contest topics and goals. The jury can consider objective criteria such as feasibility but is also able to take account of more subjective matters such as the creativity.

Process: The community votes and the detailed evaluation serve as filter mechanisms for the jury members yet do not have direct influence on the determination of the winning ideas. As a result, the jury is independent from the evaluation done by the community and experts and its judgment therefore is more flexible and might be more accurate for determining the final winners.
The jury members will discuss the ideas and thereby mind varying views while the opinions of external judges should be heard in particular.
